Horne's Pest Control is excited to partner with Augusta Technical College to offer a United States Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship program for Exterminators.

Upon successful completion of the apprentice program you can, manage branch locations, oversee teams, or even open your own company!
Interested applicants must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Be a legal resident of Georgia
- Have a High School Diploma or a high school equivalency credential
- Be able to pass a background check*
- Have 3 years of clean driving record
- Be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program, with or without a reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the health of others
- Be able to work and/or attend classes up to 40 hr’s per week.
- Apprentices are full time-paid employees with benefits once passing the Georgia Department of Agriculture employee registration exam
*No violent crimes or sex offenses

The pre-apprentice workshop lasts 2.5 days. During this time attendees will submit their application and complete their background check, take a fit test, and go through the application process.
All applicants should have 3 years of a clean driving record, be a resident of Georgia, and be over the age of 21. Applicants with criminal convictions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Upon acceptance into the apprenticeship, you are an employee of Horne’s Pest Control.
Completion of required coursework leads to pay increases and position changes. Apprentices have up to 2 years to complete the entire program.
Designation: Trainee
- All trainees must complete the Intro to Pest Control and Driver’s Safety Course. They also must complete 70 hours of on-the-job training, receiving wages of $15 an hour. They must complete the training in 5 weeks and can work up to 25 hours a week.
- After completing the on-the-job training, trainees must take and pass the GA Pest “Employee Registration Exam. The cost of this is covered by the Employer Sponsor.
- Trainees are entered into the US Department of Labor RAPIDS system.
- Upon completion of this category, you are promoted to a Service Tech Apprentice
Designation: Service Tech Apprentice
- During your first year Apprentices should complete the Termite Control Workshop and Other Wood Destroying insects, Safety, Customer Service and Communication course.
- May be eligible to work up to 40 hours per week.
- Wage $16 an hour.
- Course time is included in work hours.
- Upon Completion of this category, you are promoted to a Service Tech 2 Apprentice.
Designation: Service Tech 2 Apprentice.
- During your second year you must complete the home IPM workshop, Reading blueprint course and Bed Bug workshop.
- Work schedule is 40 hours per week with benefits.
- Wages $18+ an hour.
- Upon completion of this category, you are promoted to a Senior Tech Apprentice.
Designation: Senior Tech Apprentice
- Senior Techs should complete School IPM and Commercial IPM workshop and state required recertification training.
- They will be working 40 hours a week with benefits, receiving $19+ an hour.
- Upon completion of this category, you will have completed your DOL apprenticeship and receive recognition of completion from the U.S. Department of Labor as an Registered Exterminator.
