Generac Supports Augusta Technical College to Expand Youth Cougar Camps

Augusta, GA - May 1, 2026

Augusta Technical College Foundation announces a $5,000 contribution from the Generac Foundation to support Cougar Camps, the College’s youth STEM and workforce development initiative.

This funding will support a series of hands-on camps for students ages 11 to 15, taking place from June through December 2026. Cougar Camps introduce participants to high-demand fields, including manufacturing, construction, engineering, energy systems, and skilled trades, through immersive, project-based learning.

Campers engage in activities such as soldering, robotics, construction projects, and environmental applications, while also gaining exposure to real-world careers through industry connections and site-based experiences. The program is designed to build early awareness of technical career pathways and strengthen the future workforce pipeline.

Generac’s support will also help expand program offerings, including new pathways in aviation, welding, and entrepreneurship, further aligning the camps with evolving industry needs.

“Cougar Camps give students the chance to experience what these careers actually look like through hands-on learning,” said Julie Langham, Vice President of Economic Development at Augusta Technical College. “By introducing these pathways early, we are helping students build confidence, discover their interests, and better understand the opportunities available to them right here in our region.”

“The Generac Foundation seeks to inspire and engage youth in STEM programs,” said Kelly Skindzelewski, Generac Community Programs Manager.

Generac’s investment reflects its commitment to strengthening communities where its employees live and work, including its operations in Trenton, South Carolina, and in Augusta, Georgia. Through this partnership, the Generac Foundation is helping expand access to meaningful STEM education and career exploration opportunities for young learners.
