Augusta Tech will celebrate scholarship sponsors on March 17

Augusta, GA - March 11 2026

Peter Claus, Caucasian male smiling wearing a blue suit.Augusta Technical College has invited its scholarship donors and scholarship recipients to its Third Annual Scholarship Celebration at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17 in the Information Technology Center. The event will honor people who have offered generous contributions to support students through scholarships.

In the last year, the Augusta Tech Foundation was able to award nearly twice as many scholarships as the year before. Altogether, 306 scholarships were distributed totaling just over $231,000.

Most of these scholarships are provided through the Augusta Tech Foundation’s $1.7 million scholarship endowment, which is invested to generate income for scholarship awards. Others are provided through annual contributions from Augusta Tech employees, alumni, and community partners.

Several new scholarships have been created in the last year. These include the Augusta Chiller Services Scholarship, KSB Annual Scholarship, and Robert A. Fields Construction Trades Scholarship.

“All of our students are deserving and most of them are facing serious financial need,” said Augusta Tech’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement Cheryl Ciucevich. “We could not be more grateful for the generous people, organizations, and companies that make it possible for them to complete their programs and have access to great careers with good-paying jobs. These scholarships truly make a difference.”

Augusta Tech Design and Media Production student Brentson Judon is one of the featured speakers at the event. Judon is Augusta Tech’s 2026 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) student. In April, he will compete at the statewide GOAL competition. He is a recipient of the Dr. Joan C. Puryear Scholarship. “It’s an honor to represent Augusta Tech,” he said.

Scholarship sponsor and Augusta Tech Foundation Trustee Peter Claus will also speak. He will share the story of his son, Cooper, who inspired Claus and his wife, Amy, to create a scholarship for the family members of firefighters and emergency medical technicians. Claus is the Vice President and General Manager of PACE Technology, a standalone business within Textron Specialized Vehicles.
