Augusta Technical College Recognizes Outstanding Employees at 2023 Convocation

Awards were given out at the college's annual Convocation Ceremony.

Augusta Technical College seal in Heritage Green composed of the words Augusta Technical College circling the top 3/4s of a circular outline. The word Georgia is centered at the bottom outside the circular outline, separated from the words Augusta and College by three stylized laurel leaves. The inner part of the circular outline is divided into three sections by lines forming a capitalzed Y. The upper section includes the image of an open book as seen from the bottom edge with the year 1961 above it framed by two small diamonds. The bottom left section contains an outline of a gear with the hollow center of the gear opening to the center of the Y. The bottom right section contains the outline of a caduceus.

Outstanding Employees at 2023 Convocation


Awards were given out at the college's annual Convocation Ceremony.

Augusta, GA - July 31, 2023

2023 faculty/staff award winnersAugusta Technical College’s vision is to become a nationally recognized academic institution that transforms lives, organizations, and communities through excellence, innovation, and partnerships.

The fulfillment of this vision requires high employee engagement and development of institutional talent. The college’s strategic plan has an objective related to organizational culture, and employee recognition is a key component of the plan. The college created seven new employee awards that recognize high performing individuals who also display the institution’s values daily: Excellence, Inclusiveness, Innovation, Integrity, and Responsibility.

Augusta Technical College is proud to announce the recipients of the 2023 Employee Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions and dedication within the college community.

The Augusta Technical College Employee Award Winners for 2023 are:

Raymond McKinley Outstanding Staff Member of the Year

  • Maureen Jones, Administrative Support Assistant, School of Business

President's Award for Excellence in Building & Grounds Maintenance

  • Christopher Brown (CJ), Groundskeeper

George Hardy Outstanding Administrator Award

  • Dr. Kristie Searcy, Dean, School of Health Sciences

President’s Award for Innovation and Operational Excellence

  • Migdaliz (Micki) Berrios, Student Affairs Coordinator and VA Certifying Official

Adjunct Faculty of the Year Award

  • Clifford Terrell, Instructor, Criminal Justice, School of Public and Professional Services

Outstanding Service Awards

  • Candace Adams, Custodial Services
  • Paul Edenfield, Banner Functional Support Manager
  • Christine Ball, Director of Enrollment Services

"These exceptional individuals exemplify the values and commitment to excellence that define Augusta Technical College," said Dr. Jermaine Whirl, President. "Their hard work and dedication have a profound impact on our students, faculty, and staff, creating a positive and nurturing environment for everyone."

The Employee Awards ceremony were held on Friday, July 28 in the Jack B. Patrick Information Technology Center on the Augusta Campus, where the recipients were recognized and honored in front of their colleagues and college community.
