The story behind the most inspiring par 3 in all of Augusta

'We have men from age 25 to the early 60s in this current class...We’re contacting possible employers for them now while we recruit the next class. We’re just trying to pay back these people who’ve given us so much'(Johnson, The Warrior Alliance).

On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, Golf Digest featured an article by Curt Sampson about Operation Double Eagle and the par 3 golf hole at Augusta Municipal Golf Course that its students maintain.

" Vets in the program—called Operation Double Eagle—spend mornings wrestling with topics such as horticultural science, pesticide management and irrigation in classrooms at Augusta Technical College. Then in the afternoon, they go apply their new knowledge at the modest hole at the muny" (Sampson, Golf Digest).

The article also features Scott Johnson (founder of The Warrior Alliance), Shannon Bowling (a December 2020 graduate of Operation Double Eagle), Alan Manley and Scott Smith (instructors at Augusta Technical College), and Bill Kubley and Kurt Huseman (Landscapes Unlimited). The article also includes mentions for Troy Vincent (Architect), the City of Augusta, and Clint Bryant (athletic director at Augusta University). Original Press Release
