Yes. Applicants may receive credit for a course by passing the College exemption exam (generally administered during the week of final exams) only if the applicant has neither attempted nor failed the course(s) or equivalent course(s) at Augusta Technical College or another postsecondary institution. Applicants may take the College Exemption exam to satisfy natural science and ALHS prefix courses taken over 5 years (60 months). A minimum score of 75% is required to pass an exemption examination. Qualified applicants are allowed one exemption exam attempt per course.
Can scores or grades over five years (60 months) for natural sciences courses achieved through College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and/or Advanced Placement (AP) Testing be used for competitive rankings?
Unsuccessful course attempts that led to ineligibility for academic ranking for competitive programs will expire after five years (60 months). This applies to any courses that led to ineligibility. Prior failures will remain on students’ permanent academic record but will not be included in the ranking grade point average.
Applicants with ALHS and natural science courses that are older than five years (60 months) have the following options: (1) Retake the course(s); or (2) Take the College exemption exam for the expired course(s).
Applicants must have earned a grade of a “C” or below in order to retake a prerequisite course for ranking purposes. This also applies to applicants with transfer grades of a “C”. Applicants for the Radiologic Technology program must have earned a grade of a "B" or less in order to retake a prerequisite course for ranking purposes. Each attempt will calculate in the overall ranking GPA except for Radiologic Technology and Respiratory Care Technology applicants. The highest grade will be used for these program applicants. This also applies to applicants with transfer grades for these two programs.
Yes, if the applicant has degree level placement scores.
If the applicant chooses to use/take the degree level Anatomy (BIOL 2113 and BIOL 2114) courses, the theory and lab course grades will be averaged for their ranking grade.
If a student makes less than a “C” in a natural science course for a competitive program that includes a lab, this will be counted as “one” academic failure or unsuccessful attempt. The student will be required to retake the component (lab or theory) in which a grade of less than a “C” was awarded in order to meet the prerequisite requirement. The theory letter grade will be averaged with the corresponding letter grade in lab to determine the final letter grade for ranking purposes.
