Applying as an International Student
The following information is for prospective students who live outside the United States who wish to apply for admission to Augusta Technical College and obtain an M-1 student visa, good for one year of study prior to return to home country.
*Note – M-1 students can only apply for diploma and certificate programs.
International M-1 Student Classification
- Candidates for admission to Augusta Technical College are classified as “International applicants” if they meet any of the following criteria:
- Students who are not U.S. Citizens and who are currently in the U.S. on an F-1 (student) visa.
- Students who are currently living outside the U.S. and will require an F-1 or M-1 visa to study in the U.S.
- Students who are currently in the U.S. on any other class of visa.
- Students who are in the process of applying for Permanent Residency status, but have not yet received the Permanent Residency card.
Steps:
- APPLY
Complete an online admission application and $25.00 non-refundable application fee in U.S. currency by credit card, money order or check drawn on a U.S. bank, payable to Augusta Technical College.
- TRANSCRIPT EVALUATION
Submit translated and evaluated transcript(s) from your high school/secondary school (or GED) and all college(s) attended by the deadline. Applicants with a college degree are not required to submit a high school or GED transcript. NOTE: All transcripts from schools outside the U.S. must be evaluated by an approved evaluation service. The evaluation must be requested by the student. We recommend the following evaluation agencies:

Submit official scores from one of the following placement tests taken within the last five years: SAT, ACT, or COMPASS. Also, if English is NOT your first language, submit official score of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of 500 or higher on the written test or a score of 173 or higher on the computerized version of TOEFL is required.
- FINANCIAL DOCUMENTATION
Submit original financial documentation as required by the U.S. government. The student or sponsor must provide a bank letter verifying a minimum of your school’s cost of attendance USD is available to finance the first year of education. All bank correspondence should be written on official bank stationary and certified or notarized by an officer of the bank with the bank address and telephone number printed clearly. Financial documentation must be dated within the last three months, and funds must be stated in the U.S. currency equivalent. Sponsors must complete the Form I-134 Affidavit of Support and have it properly notarized.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Augusta Technical College will not accept faxed documents or photocopies as official. To be considered official, transcript evaluations and test scores must be provided by the evaluation service or testing agency; financial documentation must be provided by financial institution or properly notarized.
