School of Business

Sheila Hill retired from Augusta Technical College in 2022 after 25 years of service. She 
truly worked her way up at the College, starting as a work study student. She joined the 
professional staff as an Accounting Technician for the Thomson site. She advanced to 
Assistant Director of Accounting and then Director of Accounting before eventually 
being appointed Vice President of Administrative Services. As Vice President, she 
oversaw the College’s financial operations, human resources, and facilities.

When Augusta Tech President Terry Elam retired, Mrs. Hill was named Interim President 
in the middle of the global pandemic. She successfully led the institution until the appointment of Dr. Jermaine Whirl as the new President. She is the only graduate of Augusta Tech to also serve as the school’s President.

As a student at Augusta Tech, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. After completing the Associate of Applied Technology in Accounting at Augusta Tech in 1997, Mrs. Hill enrolled at Brenau University. There, she was listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. She then earned a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Troy State University. 

Mrs. Hill later completed the Governmental Accounting State Financial Management Program at the University of Georgia as well as the Technical College System of Georgia’s Vice Presidents of Administrative Services Leadership Training Academy.

Mrs. Hill has been married for 44 years. She has two sons and four grandchildren. She also serves as a Stewardess at Mt. Aldred CME Church.
