Lisa Hill

Lisa Hill graduated from Augusta Technical College with a diploma in secretarial skills in 1984. As a senior at T. W. Josey High school she attended Augusta Technical College through a program for high school seniors. After graduation, she worked for Traveler's Insurance Company and Thermal Ceramics. While working at Thermal Ceramics, she volunteered at Gracewood State School and Hospital and developed a love for individuals with intellectual disabilities and a desire to work with them. She returned to school and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Special Education with an emphasis in Mental Retardation, her Master of Education and Specialist in Education degrees from Augusta State University. Additionally, she attended Georgia State University and University of Georgia and obtained her Instructional Supervision and Educational Leadership certifications.

Lisa has worked in special education for over 31 years. Currently she serves eastern Georgia as the Director of the East Georgia Learning Resources System. East GLRS supports 12 school districts and two charter schools. In this role, she supports parents of students with disabilities by helping them understand their procedural safeguards and strategies for supporting students' learning at home.

She also serves on the East P-20 leadership team and Induction leadership team, and is a regular presenter at Future Georgia Educators Day at Augusta University. She collaborates with Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation and the High School High Tech program to ensure school districts have knowledge of resources for high school students with disabilities to help them transition to college and careers. She works closely with special education directors in eastern Georgia to assist with data analysis, procedure, and program development for students with disabilities.

Lisa served on the CEEDAR Leadership Team for Georgia. As a team member, Lisa assisted with the development of the High Leverage Practices Induction Professional Learning Series. Because of this work, the Columbia County School District, Augusta University, and the Georgia Department of Education earned the Best-in-Class award for Strategic Partnerships by the Georgia Association of School Personnel Administrators. She was also chosen by the U.S. Department of Education to support work related to the recruitment and retention of special education teachers. She has presented at several conferences including the Georgia Induction Summit and the ISL conference at Augusta University.

In her more than 30-year career in special education, Lisa has worked with Richmond, Columbia, and McDuffie County school districts. In her special education administration roles, she loved helping families and school personnel work together to provide the best special education services to students with disabilities.

Lisa has been married to the love of her life and her best friend, Randy, for 22 years. They live in Evans, Georgia with their two cats. Through Randy, she gained two children, a daughter Anna who is married to Ben, and a son Aaron, who is married to Anna. They have four grandchildren, Davis, Avery, Darcy and Audra May, ages five to seventeen. She enjoys reading the Bible and devotionals, spending time at the beach and the outdoors.
