The Shakayla Hawes Memorial Bench

A bench honoring the memory of Shakayla Hawes has been added to the campus of Augusta Tech near the 500 building where she attended Head Start classes. Early Childhood Education and Head Start faculty and students raised the money to purchase the memorial bench. Shakayla was a student in the Head Start program and was loved by the staff and students who looked out for her while she attended school.

The bench will be a place of reflection on campus for students and faculty.
