Augusta Technical College Occupational Therapy Instructor Selected for State Award

Barbara Banning (right), an instructor at Augusta Technical College and a Georgia Occupational Therapy Association representative, presents the organization’s Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant of the Year award to Susan Wise, of the MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center.

     Susan Wise of Martinez has been selected as the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant of the Year by the Georgia Occupational Therapy Association, an affiliate of the American Occupational Therapy Association.  Wise was selected based on her volunteer work, recommendations from her peers and recognition she has received in the community.

                                       

     Wise joined MCG Health, Inc., in 1995, as an occupational therapy assistant in pediatric rehabilitation at the MCG Health Children's Medical Center. She also serves as a clinical instructor and educator for two OT assistant programs at Augusta Technical College. She has an Associate of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the Medical College of Georgia.

     The Georgia Occupational Therapy Association is composed of occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and students of occupational therapy who work with people experiencing health problems such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, cancer, congenital conditions, developmental problems and mental illness.
