Malica Himes is all smiles as she accepts the scholarship from Barbara Williams.
Malica Himes, a student in the Dental Assisting program, is the recipient of a $500 scholarship from the Barbara Williams Dental Assisting for 2007. Ms. Himes, whose husband is currently serving in Iraq, has pursued this degree to help her secure worldwide employment as she and her husband have the potential to be transferred to another duty station once he returns stateside. Having a diploma and the skills to work anywhere in the world is the primary reason Ms. Himes chose Dental Assisting.
Mrs. Barbara Williams, the retired chairperson of the Dental Assisting Program, was on hand for the check presentation. Friends, family and dentistry professionals contributed to the endowment in honor of Barbara's hard work in getting the program off the ground many years ago. Also on hand were current program chair, Beverly Dalber and college president Terry Elam.
Malica was nominated by instructor, Dr. Frank Poole for her work ethic and dedication to the profession.
