The Skills USA Student Chapter at Augusta Technical College received a $10,000 grant check from the Lowe's Charitable and educational Foundation and the Skills USA Youth Development Foundation to benefit a community service project for the Augusta Training Shop, Inc.

Augusta Technical College was one of ten colleges nationwide to win one of the grants for the Skills USA Chapter to use to help a community group. The selected beneficiary of the funds is the Augusta Training Shop, Inc. located on Walton Way. The Augusta Training Shop teaches job skills to mentally and physically challenged adults. Some of the skills that can be acquired at the shop are furniture restoration, chair caning and rushing, silver polishing, etc.

Students will use the funds to help improve the shop's fencing, signage, lighting, outdoor canvas, website and logos.
