Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Awards Augusta Technical College Student With $1,000 Scholarship

Michael Maloney wins $1000 scholarship

Michael Maloney, a student at Augusta Technical College, has been named at Two-Year Coca-Cola Scholarship recipient. He was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.


Maloney is a member of Augusta Technical College's Student Leadership Council and a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. He was instrumental in coordinating last year’s food drive at graduation. He lives in Grovetown and is studying in the Information Technology program. He also received a letter of congratulations from Governor Sonny Perdue.

Through the Coca-Cola Two-Year Colleges Scholarship Program, the Foundation awards a total of 400 scholarships annually to students attending higher-education institutions granting two-year degrees. All recipients have demonstrated academic success and participated in community service.

"We were proud to get the news that Michael was one of the Coca-Cola Scholars. It is always a great feeling to see a student achieve this sort of recognition from such a prestigious scholarship program," said Beverly Peltier, Director of Institutional Advancement. "Michael is the third Augusta Tech student in the past two years to receive a Coca-Cola Scholarship," she added.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation is supported by the financial commitment of the Augusta Coca-Cola and The Coca-Cola Company. The Foundation was created in 1986 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the company and to establish a legacy for the education of tomorrow's leaders. Now in its' 9th year of funding this scholarship, the foundation has provided $3.7 million in awards to students attending two-year degree granting institutions.
