SkillsUSA Students Brings Home Medals

The Augusta Tech Student Chapter of SkillsUSA recently attended the Post Secondary State SkillsUSA Competition held at Heart of Georgia Technical College in Dublin, Georgia. Several students brought home medals while others placed in the top five of the events they were competing.

Gerald Hendricks received a gold medal for placing first in the Electronic Applications event.

Bryan Levy received a silver medal for placing second in the Residential Wiring competition.

Andrew Harris received a silver medal for placing second in the Electronics Technology competition.

Darrell Toliver received a silver medal for placing second in the Extemporaneous Speaking event.

Patrick Williams finished in the top five for Job Demonstration.

Mother and daughter, Sharon Jones and Makeia Farmer, also attended the competition. Sharon finished in the top five for Computer Programming and Makeia competed in the Job Interview.

Makeia Farmer, an E-Commerce student, and Evan Smith, a Computer Programming student, were selected to serve as State Officers for SkillsUSA. Darrell Toliver, an Electronics Technology student, is an Outgoing State Officer and was elected to serve as a Parliamentarian.

Andrew Jefferson, SkillsUSA Advisor, was appointed to the position of State Advisor and Training Coordinator.

In 2009 and 2010, the State SkillsUSA Competitions will be held at Augusta Technical College.
