Dr. Joan Puryear, Dean of General Education and Learning Support, received a 15-Year Service Award from the national office of Phi Theta Kappa. Dr. Puryear has served as the college chapter advisor of Alpha Chi Delta of Phi Theta Kappa for the past fifteen years. Phi Theta Kappa, established in 1918, is nationally acclaimed and recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges as the official honor fraternity of two year colleges. To be a member, students must be enrolled in an accredited associate degree program, have accumulated a specific number of hours of study, have earned and maintained a high gradepoit average, and possess recognized qualities of citizenship, be of good moral character, and be invited to become a member.
