Sculptor Tommy Lyles shares his vision of Healing Patience
Augusta Tech's own artist in residence, Tommy Lyles, unveiled his scuplture, Healing Patience, at the Walton Rehabilitation Gardens on May 8th. In a ceremony held to dedicate the sculpture, Walton Rehab CEO, Dennis Skelley, and Greater Augusta Arts Council Executive Director, Brenda Durant, offered remarks on the beautiful piece that Tommy created for the patients, family and staff at Walton Rehabilitation Hospital. This public art piece will give patients, their families and caretakers an opportunity to reflect quietly on the grounds of the hospital.
In addition to teaching welding and joining at Augusta Tech, Tommy has become a favorite local and regional artist working primarily in metals. Another example of his work can be seen on the campus of Augusta Tech in the sculpture designed by the faculty and students of the welding and joining program called Gilbert.
