Eighty students from Augusta Tech's three campuses participated in a community wide disaster drill at Fort Gordon coordinated by the National Disaster Management System. Students from Medical Assisting, Nursing and Respiratory Therapy served as disaster victims. Students were provided with a scenario that Hurricane Lynette had hit Savannah and victims were being evacuated to Augusta. Each student was given an injury and a mock identity. They were instructed to act out their role so that the hospitals could be judged on how prepared they are in the event of a real disaster.
