Skills USA Students Head to National Competition

Augusta Tech brought home the Gold in the statewide Skills USA competition.

Georgia’s statewide Skills USA competition was held April 21 at the Heart of Georgia Technical College in Dublin, Georgia.  The state competition pitted outstanding students from Georgia’s 34 technical colleges against one another in a variety of skills-based competitions.

Ms. Bussey took first place in the Job Skills Demonstration while Darrel Tolliver took second place in Extemporaneous Speaking.  He was also named a Skills USA officer in the state competition.  Gerald Hendrick took first place in Electronic Application.  Jason Trefil took the bronze medal in Residential Wiring.  The state competition pitted outstanding students from Georgia’s 34 technical colleges against one another in a variety of skills-based competitions.

With the national competition students will face off with their peers from the 50 states and the Virgin Islands.

Skills USA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure that America has a skilled work force.  It also enables students to make valuable contacts which will last a lifetime.
