Augusta Technical College and Shepeard Community Blood Center are proud to present the “Cup of Life Competition”. Shepeard Community Blood Center, founded in 1978, collects more than 32,000 units of blood each year. In order to collect this amount, over 650 donors are needed each week. To help meet this need, Augusta Technical College is planning a Cup of Life Competition which will culminate with a Cup of Life trophy given to the academic division donating the largest amount of pints of blood. The winner of the Cup of Life will be announced May 17th at Field Day at Diamond Lakes Park. Here is how the competition will work: April 30—Cup of Life Competition Kick-Off at the Augusta Technical College Faculty/Staff Meeting. Dates of competition/blood drives: Tuesday, May 1: Augusta Campus 9:00am-3:00pm in the ITC Bldg
Thursday, May 3: McDuffie/Thomson Campus 9:00am-2:00pm
Monday, May 7: Augusta Campus 5:00-8:00 pm in the ITC Parking Lot
Monday, May 14: Waynesboro/Burke Campus 9:00am-2:00pm Students will need to sign in and note their division: Allied Health & Nursing, Business & Personal Services, Industrial Technology or Information & Engineering Technology. Students in General Education/Learning Support need to check off their intended program. Students from the branch campuses will also note their division, not campus. Each division has a faculty spirit leader who will motivate faculty and students from his or her division to donate blood. The spirit leader will also send email communication, flyers, and other information to encourage and motivate our students about this cause. Staff members who donate blood will be credited to a general “Augusta Technical College” count. Donors can also visit one of Shepeard Community Blood Center’s area locations to give blood. If you choose to visit a location, please tell staff that you are from Augusta Technical College and you are participating in the Cup of Life Competition. Provide your name, program and division.
