Mayor Deke Copenhaver proclaims November 8th Kevin
Ward Day in Augusta.
Kevin Ward is smiling a great deal these days. In addition to being named the Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year for the Technical College System of Georgia, Kevin is getting his own special day in Augusta. November 8th is being proclaimed Kevin Ward Day in Augusta signed by the order of Mayor Deke Copenhaver.
Kevin will be presented with his proclamation on November 8th prior to the regular commission meeting.
Proclamation
IN RECOGNITION of Kevin Ward WHEREAS, Kevin Ward is a marketing management instructor at Augusta Technical College, serving as the marketing program’s Department Head; and WHEREAS, he has recently been selected as the Technical College System of Georgia’s 2007 instructor of the year and winner of the Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ward was raised in Augusta and educated in the public school system of Richmond County, and following graduation from Westside High School, received a B.B.A. from Augusta State University in 1991 and an M.S. from the Georgia Institute of technology in 1994; and WHEREAS, he has worked in the real estate industry and was an award winning finance officer and pharmaceutical sales representative prior to entering the field of technical education; and WHEREAS, he exhibits excellent professionalism, work ethics and human relationship skills, and is an outstanding role model for his students; and WHEREAS, for the next year, Ward will serve as the technical college system’s ambassador for technical education instruction, making numerous appearances around Georgia to speak about the great opportunities offered by the technical college system, including an appearance before the Governor and state legislature, NOW, THEREFORE, I, Deke Copenhaver, Mayor of the City of Augusta, do hereby proclaim November 8th, 2007, as “KEVIN WARD DAY” in Augusta, Georgia, and urge all citizens to acknowledge and applaud the exceptional dedication and outstanding leadership of this gifted educator.
