Naima Imani Welcher, daughter of Microcomputer Specialist Instructor Freddie Welcher, appeared earlier this week in the Lifetime Movie Network feature film, “Inspector Mom.”
She began her acting career with a role in the Augusta Mini-Theatre’s production of “The Wizard of Oz” as a seven year old actress.
Naima attended Davidson Fine Arts School and received an academic scholarship from Howard University where she studied under such noteworthy actors as Phylicia Rashaad, TV wife of the renowned Bill Cosby. She also attended the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England.
Her acting career now includes a film in production in New Orleans starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.
Naima does have the opportunity to come home to Augusta occasionally and has performed in a play at Beulah Grove Baptist Church within the past year. She and her husband, Kevin, have been living in Dallas, Texas, since 2002.
