Associate of Applied Technology

Degree Program (Fall 2007)

Program Description:

The Criminal Justice Technology Program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students for a career in public protection, private security, and corrections. Program graduates will be competent in the general areas of communications, mathematics and human relations.  The program of study emphasizes the areas of law enforcement, constitutional and criminal law, criminal justice, corrections, and juvenile justice.

Students desiring to be employed in the public protection sector upon graduation must meet the requirements established by the Georgia Code 35-8-8. 

Program Objectives: 

The mission of the Criminal Justice Associate Degree Program is to prepare qualified law enforcement and security personnel who are caring, competent, and ethical in their delivery of services to the community. The associate degree prepares graduates for entry into a four-year degree program and opportunities to serve in federal positions with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Border Patrol, Marshal’s Service, and Secret Service

Employment Opportunities: 

Graduates of the Criminal Justice Program find opportunities to serve in the fields of law enforcement, court administration and corrections.  For those who wish to go into the private industry, students learn the fundamentals of personnel security, physical security, information and computer security, security guard management and security technology.

The mission of the Criminal Justice Diploma Program is to prepare students who desire to enter the public sector of law enforcement or private security.  The diploma program will enhance a student’s ability to complete a state authorized police-training academy for officer certification
