Course Description: Provides an overview of operating systems functions and commands that are necessary in a micro/mainframe computer working environment. Topics include: multiprogramming, multi-user systems, resource management, task command/control languages, and operating system utilization.

Things to expect in this class: The class is designed to present a wide variety of desktop operating systems in use today. The student will: Install, update, and modify multiple operating systems including Windows XP, Fedora Core 8 and 9, open source Ubuntu and open source Solaris. You can expect a heavy dose of memory management theory, resource sharing and network connectivity. Expect a test every other chapter (10 chapters... 5 tests) along the way. This course prepares you for the Operating Systems Exam portion of Comptia's A+ certification exam.
