Free college credit, also called articulated credit or advanced placement credit, is a partnership agreement between Augusta Technical College and the high school systems in our area: Burke, Columbia, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, and Wilkes in GA, and Aiken in SC. This agreement provides students an opportunity to earn college credit for courses taken in high school The areas where we have agreements are accounting/business/marketing, allied health/health occupations, automotive technology, cosmetology, drafting, electronics, family and consumer sciences/early childhood education, horticulture/agriculture, and machine tool/metalworking/welding.
The requirements are:
- Enroll in the free college credit course(s) in high school
- Earn a final course grade of B or better
- Make an acceptable score on the college's exemption exam
- Apply for admission and enroll in Augusta Technical College within two years (24 months) of high school graduation

Dual enrollment provides high school juniors and seniors, age 16 or older, enrolled in accredited private or public schools, the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit while simultaneously enrolled in both. Funded by HOPE.
Joint enrollment provides high school juniors and seniors, age 16 or older, enrolled in accredited private or public schools, the opportunity to earn college credit only while simultaneously enrolled in both high school and college. Funded by HOPE.
Dual and joint enrollment tuition, mandatory fees, and book allowance for the technical certificate of credit and/or diploma programs of study is provided by the HOPE Grant.
Accel-Associate Degree Programs Only (Formally Postsecondary Options Program - PSO) provides high school juniors and seniors, age 16 or older, enrolled in accredited public and private high schools, the opportunity to earn high school and college credit while simultaneously enrolled in both. Funded by HOPE Scholarship.
A complete list of Accel eligible courses is available on the Georgia Student Finance Commission website (www.gsfc.org). Only the courses toward core graduation requirements for college prep are permitted: English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science.
