Augusta Tech SkillsUSA Team Strikes Gold in Atlanta

Augusta, GA, March 27, 2017– The Augusta Technical College SkillsUSA team struck gold this past weekend, placing first in 7 events at the State SkillsUSA Competition in Atlanta. Here are the results:

  • Ad Design – Amanda Culverhouse – Gold medal

  • Ad Design – Shanon Lairson – Bronze medal

  • Prepared Speech – Cedric Young – Silver medal

  • Pin Design – Ryan Weidner – Gold medal

  • T-shirt Design – Chris Carrick – Gold medal

  • TV Production – Chris Carswell and Jesstin Chandler (2017 GOAL Winner) – Gold medal

  • Digital Cinema – Ashley and Julie Baladad – Gold medal

  • Job Demo A – Ania Hatfield – Gold medal

  • Customer Service – Felecia Dicks – Gold medal

The gold medal winners will go on to compete at the 53rd annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) June 19th – 23rd in Louisville, Kentucky.

Congratulations to the entire SkillsUSA team, as well as our SkillsUSA advisors Jason Dixon (Instructor, Design and Media Production Technology); Partica Muse (Program Chair & Instructor, Culinary Arts); Linda Walker (Instructor, Cosmetology); and the Augusta Tech representative on the Georgia SkillsUSA Postsecondary Planning Committee, Sherrie Rowe (Department Head, Design and Media Production Technology).
