Course Requirements Students must be well organized and have a basic understanding of computer functions to be successful in a distance learning course. Among the tasks you will expected to perform are: - Corresponding with your Internet Service Provider about the technical help
- Responding to e-mail
- Uploading files to the instructor and viewing those files after the instructor has examined them
- Participating in online discussion boards
- Participating in online chat rooms
- Searching web sites

The following Online Courses have specific Course Requirements: SCT 100 - Requires Windows XP operating system (may use Vista - contact your instructor) with Office 2007 installed to include: Word 2007, Excel 2007, Access 2007, and PowerPoint 2007. Students may purchase a 6 month subscription to Office 2007 for your home computer at the bookstore in addition to the bundled package for SCT 100. BUS 106 - Requires Microsoft Word and a textbook with an access key. If you buy a used textbook, you must also buy a new access key. BUS 161 - Requires Word and PowerPoint 2007. BUS 201 - Requires Microsoft Office Word 2007.
CIS 127 - Requires Microsoft Office 2007 Word and PowerPoint CIS 2161 - Requires WAMP (free download) and either a current version of Microsoft Office or Open Office (free download). CIS 2201 - Requires Internet Explorer and an alternate browser such as Firefox or Opera. Mac users will need Safari. Use of a text editor will be required. HTML editors are not allowed.
CIS 2228 - Requires SAM 2007 software CIS 2229 - Requires SAM 2007 software ENG 111 - Requires Microsoft Office Word. FSC 132 - Student may be required to attend a scheduled classroom exercise to demonstrate the effective delivery of instructional material.. It may also be possible to satisfy this requirement outside of the classroom environment through the creative application of electronic media. FSC 151 - The student is required to accompany an qualified inspector during a routine inspection to observe, demonstrate, and document an effective application of knowledge of prevention and inspection process. It is often possible to arrange a "ride-along" with a local or state inspector to accomplish this. Documents will be provided to the inspector to attest to the student's activity. FSC 270 - Students are expected to conduct a site examination of a previously fire damaged structure, applying the knowledge and skills developed during the instructional process. The location for the activity is set in advance by the program director. This is a one day group activity that is generally scheduled for a Saturday. Class meets beginning in the morning and extends throughout the afternoon.. Exact dates, times and locations are announced at the beginning of the course.
