Course Requirements

Students must be well organized and have a basic understanding of computer functions to be successful in a distance learning course. Among the tasks you will expected to perform are:

  • Corresponding with your Internet Service Provider about the technical help
  • Responding to e-mail
  • Uploading files to the instructor and viewing those files after the instructor has examined them
  • Participating in online discussion boards
  • Participating in online chat rooms
  • Searching web sites

Technology requirements and downloads: 
**You should use Internet Explorer 7 or FireFox to be able to view all features in Angel.

Here are some Media Downloads that might be necessary to view certain content.

The following Online Courses have specific Course Requirements:

SCT 100 - Requires Windows XP operating system (may use Vista - contact your instructor) with Office 2007 installed to include: Word 2007, Excel 2007, Access 2007, and PowerPoint 2007. Students may purchase a 6 month subscription to Office 2007 for your home computer at the bookstore in addition to the bundled package for SCT 100.
BUS 1130 - Requires Keyboarding Pro Deluxe Software (this is bundled with the textbook and students will install on their home computer)  Microsoft Word 2007 - full version.
BUS 1160 - Requires Microsoft Word 2007 and PowerPoint 2007.
BUS 1170 - Requires Outlook 2007
BUS 1240 - Requires Microsoft Word 2007 and a textbook with an access key.  If you buy a used textbook, you must also buy a new access key
BUS 2110 - Requires Microsoft Office Word 2007.
BUS 2200 - Requires Excel 2007
CIS 106 - Will require access to MyITLab.  Students who have taken SCT 100 beginning Fall 2009 will already have access to MyITLab and do not need to purchase it again. 
CIS 127 - Requires Microsoft Office 2007 Word and PowerPoint
CIS 2161 - Requires WAMP (free download) and either a current version of Microsoft Office or Open Office (free download).
CIS 2201 - Requires Internet Explorer and an alternate browser such as Firefox or Opera.  Mac users will need Safari.  Use of a text editor will be required. HTML editors are not allowed.
CIS 2228 - Requires Microsoft Office 2007 Word and PowerPoint
CIS 2229 - Requires Microsoft Office 2007 Word and PowerPoint
EMP 1000 - Requires Microsoft Office 2007 Word
FSC 132 - to challenge the NPQ portion of the course, students are required to submit a video and attend a specified state test.  This is ONLY necessary if they are trying to acquire the NPQ Fire Instructor I certificate.
FSC 151 -  to challenge the NPQ portion of the course, students are required to submit a video and attend a specified state test.  This is ONLY necessary if they are trying to acquire the NPQ Fire Instructor I certificate.
MAT 1012  - Requires the MyMathLab access key that comes with the textbook. If you buy a used textbook, you will need to purchase the access key from the MyMathLab site using a credit card. Details will be listed in the MAT 1012 online site.
MAT 1111 - Requires the MyMathLab access key that comes with the textbook. If you buy a used textbook, you will need to purchase the access key from the MyMathLab site using a credit card. Details will be listed in the MAT 1111 online site.
PHY 1110 - Requires scientific calculator and Microsoft Word
PHY 1111 - Requires scientific calculator and Microsoft Word. 
PSY 1010, 1101, 2250 -  Requires Microsoft Office 2007 Word
SPC 1010 - Students have the option to videotape their speeches or attend class on 3 different occasions to deliver speeches
