ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 2008

The Cullum Foundation managed by Wachovia has approved a $5,000 grant to fund toolbox scholarships.

The John and Mary Franklin Foundation has approved a $10,000 grant to fund GED scholarships.

The Martinez Evans Rotary Club donated $1,500 in support of GED Scholarships to the Augusta Tech Foundation.

Wal-Mart on Bobby Jones Expressway recently celebrated their grand re-opening and store expansion in June and donated a $2,500 gift to Augusta Tech as part of their celebration.

The Georgia Chapter of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors presented the Augusta Tech Foundation with a check for $2,500 designated for the Richard "Dick" Edenfield Scholarship Endowment.

John Deere approved a grant for $6,000 in support of technical education.

A bench was donated to the college on behalf of Rev. Robert Anderson by his family in honor of his recent retirement. The bench was placed on the grounds of the 700 building where Mr. Anderson serves as a member of the Electrical Construction and Maintenance Advisory Board. Mr. Anderson's wife, Denise, is an employee of the college.

Planters EMC approved a $2,375.00 grant to fund GED Scholarships in Burke County.

Mr.Daniel Harrell of the North Columbia Fire and Rescue Squad contributed $20,000 to the Augusta Technical College Foundation to establish two scholarship endowments benefitting the Fire Science Program and the EMT/Paramedic Program.

Monsanto approved a $2,500 grant for the Center for Advanced Technology (CADTEC) to purchase additional equipment and software for the Programmable Logic Control Lab.

A memorial bench, honoring the memory of Shakayla Hawes, was donated to the college by the faculty and students of the Early Childhood Care and Head Start programs. The bench will be located near the grounds of the 500 building.

The Augusta Tech Foundation established the Dr. Lucretia Parham Scholarship Fund to honor her memory. The fund will provide financial support to first generation college students.

Procter and Gamble donated $2,500 in support of the college's annual fund drive.

SunTrust Bank donated $1,000 in support of the college's annual fund drive.

Coca-Cola Bottling Company United donated $1,000 in support of the college's annual fund drive.

The Merry Foundation generously donated $5,000 in support of the college's foundation.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 2007

Dr. Sally Hand of the Nixon Family of Augusta established the Gwinn Huxley Nixon Scholarship Endowment with a gift of $25,000 in honor of her father.

The Community Foundation for the CSRA funded a $10,000 grant for toolbox scholarships to assist with the purchase of books and tools for students in need.

Foundation Director, Beverly Barshafsky Peltier, received the "Outstanding Newcomer Award" from the Georgia Educational Advance Council. The award is presented to an advancement officer with less than five years experience in the field.

Thanks to the support of AirTran Airways and Zaxby's, the Augusta Technical College Foundation's Family First event raised over $28,000 from faculty and staff to benefit projects at the college.

Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund presented the Augusta Tech Foundation with a $10,000 grant to purchase equipment for the college's business and industry training programs.

The Augusta Tech Foundation helped document equipment donations valued at over $151,346 which will assist the college in securing a matching grant under the state's TechMatch Program valued at $121,000. The matching grant dollars will be used to purchase new instructional equipment.

Instructor Ken Simmons and his wife, Ruth, established two LPN book scholarships in honor of Philip Walsh and Nancy Simmons.

Linn Brucker, husband of retired head librarian Pat Brucker, established the Pat Brucker Book Scholarships in honor of his wife upon her retirement.

The Electrical Construction and Maintenance Program Advisory Board, through the help of many area electrical contractors and friends, established the Richard J. (Dick) Edenfield Scholarship Endowment with over $14,000 in funds being donated to the college.

Monsanto funded a $4,000 grant to the foundation to purchase equipment for the college's Business and Industry Training Programs.

Jefferson EMC funded a grant for $5,000 to fund toolbox scholarships for sudents in need.

Planters EMC funded a grant for $2,600 to the Augusta Tech Foundation to fund GED Scholarships at the Burke County Campus.

The James M. Hull Educational Fund sponsored by the Rotary Club of Augusta funded $2,500 worth of GED Scholarships for the college's Adult Literacy Program.

Skills USA and the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation funded a $10,000 grant written by the Augusta Tech Foundation on behalf of the student chapter of Augusta Tech to benefit a local community service project. The project beneficiary was the Augusta Training Shop.

Jason Trefil and Rebecca McBeath were named Coca-Cola Scholars and each received $1,000 towards their education.

The MeadWestvaco Foundation and Purification Cellutions presented the Augusta Techical College Foundation with a gift of $6,000.

MAU, Inc. and the Augusta Technical College Foundation sponsored a seminar in July entitled the "Millenial Generation" which featured Dr. Terri Manning of Central Piedmont Community College. Over 300 people attended two sessions to learn more about the newest generation of young people.

Pat and Linn Brucker donated a memorial bench to the Augusta Tech grounds in honor of Virginia Martin Brown.

Washington Savannah River Group donated $2,500 to the Augusta Technical College Foundation to fund GED scholarships.

The Augusta Technical College Foundation added two new foundation members, Dr. Melissa Frank-Alston of Augusta Tech and Mr. Jim Champion with Martinez Fire and Rescue.

The Augusta Technical College Foundation sponsored the annual Office Employee, Building, Grounds and Maintenance Employee and Teacher of the Year awards.
