How Does the Foundation Raise Money? The Foundation raises money in four primary ways: - The Annual Community Giving Campaign called “Investing in Our Community” is a yearly campaign that allows community and business members to make annual investments or multi-year financial pledges in support of the college.
- The “Family First” Campaign is an internal campaign that allows our faculty, staff, directors, trustees and vendors to show their financial support of the college through monthly payroll deduction or a one time annual donation. Our employees feel strongly about showing their support first to the community before we ask the community to support us financially.
- The Tech Match program, through the Technical College System of Georgia, is a dollar for dollar matching grants program. In-kind donations of equipment from local corporations and business are matched dollar for dollar by this program. The matching funds are restricted to the purchase of instructional equipment. That directly benefits students.
- Foundations and Grant Proposals.
What Kinds of Gifts Does the Foundation Receive? The Foundation receives various types of gifts with cash being the most useful of all gifts especially if the funds are designated unrestricted. Our board of community trustees and college administration can best decide how to allocate funds to various projects. Other gifts come in the form of equipment, endowments, stocks and bonds, life insurance gifts and bequests. For specific questions about the tax deductibility of your gift, it is recommended that you consult your tax advisor. Who Supports the Foundation? The foundation is supported first by the faculty and staff of Augusta Technical College. We strongly believe that charity begins at home and we always conduct an internal giving campaign prior to asking the community for support. The foundation is supported by the Augusta Tech Board of Directors, Foundation Trustees and Augusta Tech retirees. As part of our extended family, our directors, trustees and retirees also participate in our annual giving campaign. The foundation is supported by businesses and corporations that believe in our mission of workforce development and adult technical education. The foundation is also supported by various private and community foundations that understand and value the importance of technical education. Why Should You Support the Foundation? You should support the foundation because we provide the most affordable and accessible education in our service area to all students. Every day, we are changing people’s lives through technical adult education by providing opportunities for students to learn, grow, achieve and participate as good citizens in their communities. Your support helps us to accomplish our mission of workforce development which in turns helps make our community a more attractive place for business and industry to locate to when looking for new business sites. We help our community grow by helping our students achieve success in their educational experience. Support of the foundation is tax deductible as the foundation is a registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit in Georgia.
